Description
This long ceramic dish is ideal for summer dishes such as grilled fish or kebabs. These bright colours colours are borrowed from the palette of the Fauvist painters Matisse and Derain. Here the enamels are applied with a brush to create a wave pattern. The edges of the dish are pinched by hand to give it a rhythmic and decorative effect as well as being practical. The transparency of the colours reveals the red earthenware underneath, giving depth and nuance to the glazes.
